Today was time to travel pass streams, counties, a summit, mountains, alongside tracks and about an hour and a quarter southeast of the Provo/Orem area into Carbon County. The first apparition occurred February, 1858. There were eighteen in all; the last took place the following July. There have been many approximately 4,000 cures/healings and notable miracles at the site since. Now back to Price, Utah where a beautiful old red brick building awaits. There is a welcoming entrance and a strong pitched roof to handle all the weather. I was blessed to have attended the 11a.m. mass, but there was a prior mass at 8a.m., and a Saturday mass at 5:30p.m.. Even though it is modern day, the surroundings reminded me of old westerns with a saloon, women in long flowing dresses and men in cowboy boots, spurs with a walk as if they've been in the saddle too long - that is not the case today. Helper, Utah has a beautiful old brick church that serves Catholics in the area. Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church is located at 5 South Main Street • Helper, Utah 84526 • Ph: (435) 472-3235 • email: [email protected]. Father Albert Ndepachio Kileo is usually presiding over the masses, but he was on vacation and Fr. Donald E. Hope was filling in for him. Fr. Hope also covered the other locations I was visiting today. I attended the 9:30a.m. mass and there is also a 5:30p.m. on Saturday. Instead of taking photos of the beautiful surroundings, it was time to focus on the church. Saint Anthony of Padua worked in Italy but was born in Portugal. He is known Today's brisk morning was a perfect time for a weekday pilgrimage north. The Pilgrim Train ventured north-east to the 9am mass at a church with a patron saint that reminds me of a day that involves green and pinching. Did you know that St. Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish? Subsequently, the ubiquitous wearing and display of shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs has become a feature of his feast day. The Festival of Patrick is both a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on the 17th of March. It is named after Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland.
