The statues are life size, the carvings are masterpieces and so old, there were even brass carved vents on the floor that I had to photo. My husband and I remember kneeling at the altar and were able to do that once again. I also photographed a stone block found outside and to the right of the front doors with the dates. May you enjoy and be awed too and please pardon my shaky hands. Don't forget to check-out the last photo on the right. It is posted outside by the sidewalk and explains so much that I have not mentioned.
This past weekend has been full of blessings as I pray that yours was too. We had a Mini-Immediate-Family-Reunion in Phoenix, AZ, where our son attends the university. He acted as the tour guide and we came across a Basilica and he knew his mother had to go inside. I was drawn in, like a bee to honey, and all I could utter was WOW! The photos below do not do it justice. Here is a link to St. Mary's Basilica and it has a virtual tour on the right side of the website. Don't forget to move the camera with your mouse and see the ceiling and the stained glass dome. http://www.saintmarysbasilica.org/
