Today's weather was not conducive for long distance travel. But since I am in Salt Lake City more often, it was time to take advantage of what is near. Just about fifteen minutes south of the Cathedral of the Madeleine and on the corner of S. 2300 E. and Redondo Avenue is Saint Ambrose Catholic Church ∙ 2315 Redondo Ave. ∙ Salt Lake City, 84108 ∙ Phone: 801-485-5610 ∙ http://www.stambroseslc.com/ . The first thing I noticed was the large tall church and it beckons to be recognized. The church is located in a large parking area that it shares with J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School (K-8) and The Vaughan Center (a resource center, library and meeting area for adult education).
St. Ambrose Parish was established by Most Reverend Duane G. Hunt, the fifth Bishop of Salt Lake City, on January 4, 1948. The name of the parish was chosen by Bishop Hunt to honor St. Ambrose, the early Church's learned and scholarly Bishop of Milan, and because his Episcopal coat of arms contained a beehive, symbolic of Ambrose's eloquence, but also the symbol of the State of Utah.
