Saint Marguerite Catholic Church is very easy to locate because it is on the corner of 7th and Vine Street. One of the first things you will notice at this corner is a church sign and a very tall reddish brick
![]() Today’s pilgrim train stopped at a parish that was established in 1910 by the first bishop of Salt Lake City, Utah. Because of the introduction of mining smelters in 1907, many Catholic immigrant workers made Tooele their home. They were in need of a Catholic Mass, so in 1908, Bishop Lawrence Scanlan, an immigrant himself, authorized monthly masses for the workers. A year later, land was donated and Saint Marguerite Catholic Church was built. The original church was in use until they outgrew it and relocated in 1974. I felt blessed to attend the 10:30 a.m. Mass celebration at Saint Marguerite Catholic Church ∙ 15 South 7th Street ∙ Tooele, UT 84074 ∙ Phone: (435) 882-3860 ∙ Website: http://www.stmarguerites.org/. Please don't feel intimidated by a service that is slightly different; for different can be beautiful and full of the Holy Spirit, such as this parish is. St. Jude Marionite Parish is located near I-15 for easy access and tucked away in a charming street. Its location adds to the charm of the church. There is no need to worry that you won't fit in, or you will stand out. I can firmly attest to that, because I tripped on my way in the door right when monsignor |
