Today's Pilgrim Train ventured about ninety minutes southwest of the Provo/Orem area to Millard County. Time had come to visit a mission that shares their priest with Saint Bridget Mission in Milford and Holy Family Mission in Filmore. This morning's mass was celebrated at a church whose patron saint means "Worshiper of God" in Hebrew and her feast day is November 16th. Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was born into a life of riches and privilege but lived a life of simplicity, generosity and great faith. She was inspired by the life of St. Francis of Assisi and cared for the sick and established a hospice for the poor. Weekly schedule for the church is: Wednesday & Thursday at 5pm and Sunday at 9am (bilingual). Confessions are Sunday at 8:30am along with the Rosary. Eucharistic Adoration is also on Thursdays following the mass. Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church is located in a rural country town with plenty of parking. Located on U.S. Route 89, Ephraim is the largest city in Sanpete County. The mission that I was blessed to visit is just across the street from Snow College. The Sunday Services are as follows: English Mass is 12pm, Holy Rosary at 11:30am, Spanish mass is 2pm and Santo Rosario at 1:30pm. Confessions are from 1:20pm - 1:50pm on Sundays as well. Saint Jude Mission is a part of Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Central Valley. St. Jude, known as Thaddaeus, was a brother of St. James the Less, and a relative of Our Savior. After preaching the Gospel in many lands, he returned to Jerusalem and assisted his brother's election, St. Simeon, as Bishop of Jerusalem. Saint Jude is cited in desperate situations because his Today's Pilgrim Train took me to an area where God has painted the rocks and mountains in amazing colors. Torrey is a town located on State Route 24 in Wayne County and just 8 miles from Capitol Reef National Park. Located just off the State Route is a charming mission that fits perfectly into the surroundings. Saint Anthony of the Desert Mission ∙ 585 North 500 West Sand Creek Road ∙ Torrey, UT 84775 ∙ Phone: (435) 896-5539. This mission is part of Saint Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Central Valley. The weekend mass is 5:00pm on Saturday with Reconciliation fifteen minutes before mass. When the clocks reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November the mass on Saturday changes to 3:00pm until clocks spring forward. There is a small sign on State Route 24 that directs prospective and visiting parishioners to Saint Anthony of the Desert Mission and another one on Sand Creek Road. The mission is off to the right and there is ample parking. Directly pass the double wooden gates Used many years ago as an exclamation of triumph, Eureka means 'I have found it!' Today I found Eureka, not in California where I've been before, but in Utah's Juab County. Originally know as Ruby Hollow, it encompasses 1.5 square miles. Today's pilgrim train stopped at a mission that is served by San Andres Catholic Church in Payson. Father Jose Rausseo celebrates mass the first Sunday of each month at two-thirty in the afternoon and there is a S.C.A.P./Sunday Celebrations in the Absence of a Priest the rest of the Sundays at Saint Patrick Catholic Church ∙ 121 Church Street ∙ Eureka, UT 84628 ∙ Phone: 801 - 465 - 4782 There is an abundance of charm to be found in Eureka and at the mission. Located in a residential neighborhood, the white cross on top of the mission greets visitors as well as those driving by.
