St. James the Just Catholic Church has plenty of parking, at least there was for the eight o'clock mass. There are two sets of double doors that lead into the vestibule aka foyer. But before entering, there is a date marker to the left of the doors near the ground that is
From the two sets of double doors, I entered into the extremely large foyer. There is an abundance of information, a prayer request area for military personnel and religious vocations. The light shines into this area and continues into the church. Once pass the next set of doors I was in church and listening to the guitarist practicing softly. The lovely and large Baptismal Font can be seen just as I enter the church and can be seen below. There are four rows of pews, two main rows and two side angled pews. The pews have cream-colored cushion that seem to absorbs a lot of noise. Directly down the main aisle links the vestibule entrance to the altar and is where Father Erik J. Richtsteig processed for mass. Father Erik is very spiritual and has a wonderful sense of humor that can be noted during his homily.
Both the baptismal font and altar are made of marble. The tabernacle is in an alcove behind the altar and is ornate golden-brass with silver angels. The American flag is to the left of the tabernacle and further left is a large Advent Wreath suspended on a pulley. One purple candle has been lit to mark the beginning of Advent. The podium is to the right of the altar and the music and choir area are further right. There is a beautiful adoration area for Saint James the Just towards the center of the right wall. Directly across on the opposite side of the church is another beautiful adoration area and this one is for Our Lady of Guadalupe. There are several lovely stained glass windows lining the walls of the church and large wooden frames for the Stations of the Cross.
The parishioners and ministers of Saint James the Just Catholic Church are very friendly and hospitable. I thank them for their warmth, insight and helpfulness. I thank God for surrounding me with such beautiful people and I pray that God continues to bless them with His Graces.
