My Pilgrim Train arrived in Brigham City with plenty of time for photos before mass. There was enough parking to be found close to church. I was greeted by a beautiful white
Entering into church and noticed rows of pews on the left and on the right as well. There is one main aisle that leads to the altar and two smaller side aisles. The oak pews are upholstered as well as the kneelers. The side windows are yellow with a red cross except for the two near the altar which have stained glass hanging in front of them. Stations of the Cross line the side walls as well. In the front right of the church and to the right of the altar is a Saint Joseph adoration area along with Saint Henry. Holy water and the baptismal font is also located in this area.
The altar is adorned in green since we are in Ordinary Time. There is an elegant crucifix just above the altar. Draped in a small green cape is the tabernacle which sits on an oak pedestal below and to the right of the crucifix behind the altar table. The podium is to the left of the table and there is a musician area on the far left corner. An adoration area is set aside for Our Lady of Guadalupe near the music area.
There is a warmth of kindness that I felt from the parishioners along with Father Pat Heuse and Deacon Karl Meyersick I spent a few minutes speaking with the very kind Deacon Karl and asked him what he felt made Saint Henry Catholic Church special. He responded, "Saint Henry's is the second smallest parish in the diocese. But in terms of welcoming people, it is one of the best. We have a group of people who make sure that everyone who comes through the front door gets either a hug, handshake or at least a hello. That's really special and I think that is the character of Saint Henry's and we are welcoming." I can testify that what he stated is true and I personally received two of those gestures. May God bless you all and keep you in God's graces.
Lord, you filled Saint Henry with your love and raised him from the cares of an earthly kingdom to eternal happiness in heaven. In the midst of the changes of this world, may his prayers keep us free from sin and help us on our way toward you. Grant this in the name of Jesus the Lord, Amen. - Roman Missal
