Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church was very easy to locate and there is ample parking. A tall bell tower is in the parking lot and directly across from the entrance, with a cross that complements the one on the church. The large foyer is located just inside, after entering through the glass panel doors. From the foyer is an entrance to the sacristy, a hallway to the classrooms, rest rooms, along with doors that lead into church.
One of the first things I noticed as I walked into church was the high ceilings, the knotty pine ceiling and architecture. A very elegant walk-in baptismal font is located at the entrance, along with a paschal candle and a grouping of red mums. Directly to the right of the font is a room for Eucharistic adoration and the confessionals are directly opposite. The beautiful Stations of the Cross start to the right of the altar and finish to the left of the altar. They seem to be framed tapestry scenes of each station.
The altar is adorned in green linens since we are in Ordinary Time. There are lovely red poinsettias in front of the altar and podium. An extremely large crucifix is on the wall behind the altar and seems to be over ten feet high. The cross looks like it is made from two beautiful trees that have the branches and bark removed. The altar wall seems to be about three stories tall and the white frosted windows toward the ceiling allow plenty of light to illuminate the altar. Directly to the left of the altar is the music area and I thoroughly enjoyed the choir, lead by Sister Marilyn Mark, O.S.B.. There is an adoration area for Our Lady of Guadalupe on the left wall that is adorned with a beautiful array of flowers and candles.
Father Francisco Pires and the parishioners of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church were very hospitable and went out of their way to make me feel welcome today. May God continue to bless their work and grant them continued favor in their lives. Amen.
