I boarded my Pilgrim Train to a community that lies just to the northeast of the Oquirrh Mountains and directly south of the Great Salt Lake. This copper mining township was originally known as Pleasant Green. In 1906 the name was changed to Magna, so it didn’t sound like Pleasant Grove. Nestled in the heart of the area is a breathtaking church that has an abundance of charm and rock-work. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church was founded in 1928 and much of the original structure still stands today. The stone building caught my eye instantly, so the church was easy to locate. It’s just a few minutes off of the UT-201, with plenty of parking available. Two wooden doors mark the entrance of the church that lead into the small foyer.
