Today's Pilgrim Train took me to an area where God has painted the rocks and mountains in amazing colors. Torrey is a town located on State Route 24 in Wayne County and just 8 miles from Capitol Reef National Park. Located just off the State Route is a charming mission that fits perfectly into the surroundings. The weekend mass is 5:00pm on Saturday with Reconciliation fifteen minutes before mass. When the clocks reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November the mass on Saturday changes to 3:00pm until clocks spring forward.

Used many years ago as an exclamation of triumph, Eureka means 'I have found it!' Today I found Eureka, not in California where I've been before, but in Utah's Juab County. Originally know as Ruby Hollow, it encompasses 1.5 square miles. Today's pilgrim train stopped at a mission that is served by San Andres Catholic Church in Payson. Father Jose Rausseo celebrates mass the first Sunday of each month at two-thirty in the afternoon and there is a S.C.A.P./Sunday Celebrations in the Absence of a Priest the rest of the Sundays at Saint Patrick Catholic Church ∙ 121 Church Street ∙ Eureka, UT 84628 ∙ Phone: 801 - 465 - 4782 There is an abundance of charm to be found in Eureka and at the mission. Located in a residential neighborhood, the white cross on top of the mission greets visitors as well as those driving by. Years ago and before it became a mission, it was a church with a beautiful rectory, school and convent. Today Traveling just over twenty minutes north of Brigham City is the Bear River Valley and a city with a population close to eight thousand. Tremonton City is in Box Elder County where the Malad River flows. Today's mission is a part of Saint Henry Catholic Church in Brigham City. The clergy celebrate a bilingual mass each Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Ana Catholic Mission ∙ 600 North 760 West ∙ Tremonton, Utah 84337 ∙ Phone: (435) 257-0701. Santa Ana translates in English to Saint Anne. She was the mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ. Her feast day is July 26th. Oddly enough, Santa Ana is not mentioned in the New Testament. She is the patroness of housewives, women in labor, cabinet-makers, and miners. Her symbol or emblem is a door. The name Anne derives The 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, was a wonderful occasion to travel four counties north. Located in Box Elder County is a church that proves that goodness can come in small packages. The 13th of July they celebrated the feast of their Patron Saint. This remarkable saint was a king of Germany and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Saint Henry was known as a just ruler, a man of prayer who lived a quasi-monastic life and was canonized a saint in 1146. My Pilgrim Train arrived in Brigham City with plenty of time for photos before mass. There was enough parking to be found close to church. I was greeted by a beautiful white Journey about forty-five minutes north of the Provo-Orem area and I was able to visit my last church in Salt Lake City. Today's church was an off-spring of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church and founded in 1944. December 12th is the Feast Day for Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas. I attended the nine o'clock mass this morning at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church ∙ 715 West 300 North ∙ Salt Lake City, UT 84116 ∙ Phone: (801) 364-2019 ∙ Website: http://www.olgslc.org/home/. The website is wonderful, with an abundance of organized information and easy navigation. Just a few minutes off of I-15 and with plenty of parking, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church can be found without a problem. The first thing that caught my eye was the tall red cross I boarded my Pilgrim Train to a community that lies just to the northeast of the Oquirrh Mountains and directly south of the Great Salt Lake. This copper mining township was originally known as Pleasant Green. In 1906 the name was changed to Magna, so it didn’t sound like Pleasant Grove. Nestled in the heart of the area is a breathtaking church that has an abundance of charm and rock-work. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church ∙ 2864 South 9000 West ∙ Magna, UT 84044 ∙ Phone: (801) 508-1595 ∙ Website: www.magnalourdes.org/ Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church was founded in 1928 and much of the original structure still stands today. The stone building caught my eye instantly, so the church was easy to locate. It’s just a few minutes off of the UT-201, with plenty of parking available. Two wooden doors mark the entrance of the church that lead into the small foyer. From the foyer there are stairs that go up to the balcony and cry room. Turning the other My Pilgrim Train stopped at the second largest city in Utah and home to today's church. Today was the first time I had visited a church with the name of two saints. They are not only saints but apostles and their Feast Day is June twenty-nine. I attended the five o'clock mass at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church ∙ 3560 West Lancer Way (3650 South) ∙ West Valley City, Utah 84119 ∙ Telephone: (801) 966-5111 ∙ Website: http://www.peterandpaulslc.org/English_Home.html Just a few minutes off I-215, Saints Peter and Paul Church is easy to locate with a tall cross towering over the brick building. There is ample parking and the front of the church In the northern portion of the Wasatch Front, between Clearfield and Kaysville is the city of Layton. Just a few minutes from I-15 highway was the destination of my pilgrimage. I attended the ten-thirty mass at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church ∙ 210 South Chapel Street ∙ Layton, Utah 84041 ∙ Phone: (801) 544-4269 ∙ Website: http://stroseoflimacatholic.net/index2.php. When I read that the parish was on Chapel Street, I knew that it was going to be the pilgrim stop for today. Saint Rose of Lima Church was easy to spot while driving down the street. The cross is on top of a very tall triangular shaped roof, where the view must be incredible. There is ample parking both in the lot and on the street. The first item I Today's Pilgrim Train traveled about an hour north to a church that was established May 26, 1943. They share their patron saint, a Viking king, with Norway. In 1164 he received pontifical recognition and soon his grave became a popular destination for European pilgrims. The ax is a symbol of his martyrdom and part of Norway’s royal coat of arms.. I was fortunate enough to attend the 11:30 mass at Saint Olaf Catholic Church ∙ 276 East 1700 South ∙ Bountiful, Utah 84010 ∙ Telephone: (801) 295-3621 ∙ Website: http://www.saintolaf.net/ Saint Olaf Catholic Church is located in the heart of Bountiful on a main thoroughfare. There is ample parking and the church is very easy to locate, especially since there is a school on the grounds. This Second Sunday of Lent brought beautiful blue skies and friendly parishioners with spring clothes. Once in the front doors I passed through a I dusted off my Pilgrim Train and ventured about forty minutes northwest to a church that is just a few minutes from Interstate 215. Today's mass felt like I had entered a time machine and went back to 1962, which was before Vatican II. The mass was not in Spanish or English, but in Latin. Where can you find a Roman Catholic Mass in Utah that is said in Latin?
